hello i'm Gvridi, a student at the rwth. i got tired of wasting time trying to find a place to study in our university so i made this. i know many of us are tired of our study-rooms situation but we just do our best with what we have.

the idea is simple: when you show up to a study space and you didn't find a seat for yourself, you scan the QR code that's next to the exit and swipe once. that's your Disappointment Ping: a quick “I tried here, and there was nothing”.

over time, those pings build up into a live picture of the rooms that are crowded, and which ones might still have space. when you are home, you can visit the website and check the rooms with the most Disappointment Pings and know where NOT to go.

How it works

it's not perfect. It relies on people actually scanning when they're disappointed. but even a few pings per hour give you way more information than nothing.

the whole thing runs on good intentions and works the best when a lot of people participate. if you went to a study-room and didn't find a seat, help others by sending a ping, i tried to make it super easy and super quick to do! you also benefit from others sending pings :)

i'll try to keep up with the opening times of every study-room. if the opening times are wrong, or the QR code is missing, i left two buttons to report that: you can find them by tapping on the room you want to report in the dashboard. please be patient if anything doesn't work as expected, im just a guy.

i hope for this system to make the situation a little better for everyone. we can help each other waste less time.

If you have ideas, feedback, or you are an university directive and want to talk about how we can make the lives of my fellow kommilitonen —and myself— better, you can reach me at luiscarlosguridi@gmail.com, i have plenty of high impact ideas we can discuss about.

best regards, gvridi
